  The Club offers a monthly weekday meet, coffee & ride for members and visitors.  These are not organised events other than the meeting location KT Bee's Kitchen (5/6 Bungendore Rd, Queanbeyan East NSW 2620) and time 0900.
  

  You may find yourself the only one there or one of many.  It is up to the group on the day to decide on a ride and to where or simply a coffee and chat.

  For your meet & ride to count in the Club Person of the Year award, someone needs to email Rides@bmwmcc.org.au with the names of who met up and where the ride was too.  You do not need to have gone on the ride for the points.

  There will be full displays of adventure bikes from Honda, Suzuki, Harley Davidson, Husqvarna, KTM, Yamaha and CFMoto, providing a unique opportunity to see their range of products, and to test ride the latest bikes in some ideal adventure bike conditions.

  Meet fuelled for a pre-ride coffee at McDonalds Molongolo 0900 and ride via Mountain Creek Road to Wee Jasper and Tumorrama Hall to the Tumut River Brewing Cafe or Orient Hotel Tumut before returning via Brindabella Road.

  The BOM forecast is 1-3mm rain, but a group decision can be made over coffee or those who like gazing at the sky in determining whether to ride.

  South Coast United Motorcycle (SCUM) Tourers host the Casper Rally at Bummaroo Ford camping area, on the banks of the Abercrombie River, 75km south of Oberon side hard left at the bottom of the hill and before the bridge and approx 28kms North of Taralga if you are coming from Goulburn.
  

  Your entry includes a badge and raffle ticket.  This is a back to basics rally - bring all your own camping gear & essentials. Supplies available at Goulburn, Taralga, or Oberon. Onsite toilets, water and firewood provided. Raffle draw and awards presentation on Saturday afternoon.

  For the serious adventure rider then the OCR is a 40+ year classic.  Held every two years and involving a ride to a remote Australian location.

  

  For 2022 the rally will return to Adels Grove, north west corner of Queensland and 2700km from Canberra over the weekend 13-14 August 2022.  How to get there map.

  This rally is in a remote part of Australia with limited support of any kind.  Intending riders and their motorcycle need to be well prepared, allow for contingencies and be flexible to evolving conditions.  Having plenty of cash will also help with accommodation and mix of 5 star bush camping or Pubs. 

  Recovery of people and motorcycles is expensive from the remote areas of Australia.  Make sure you have ambulance cover as a minimum and take advantage of the Club Member Rider & First Aid Training program beforehand.  Otherwise plan on a great ride.  Follow the story on Adventure Rider www.advrider.com.

  BMWMC Club ride:  for those members interested there will be a group ride leaving Canberra early August for a leisurely ride north and return south over 3-4 weeks.

  The 41st Kosciuskzo Rally will be held at the Geehi Hut Campground located on the sealed Alpine Way in the picturesque Snowy Mountains and home to some of the best motorcycling roads in Australia.  Rally supplies can be purchased at Thredbo (43km) or Khancoban (31km).

  Kosciuskzo National Park has entry fees, with free camping and please remember to take your rubbish out with you.

  Your entry of $nn pp includes a badge and firewood along with the hidden costs of rally organisation.  The Club does not raise operating funds from the rally, whilst your buying a raffle ticket not only gets you the chance to win some great prizes but proceeds are donated to charity.

  The Club offers a pre-purchase Saturday night dinner of Germanic Bratwurst sausage on a fresh Corryong Community Bakery roll, steamed pudding dessert and Sunday breakfast of egg n' bacon rolls and espresso coffee, tea or juice to help you on your way.

  The Club freely gives out rubbish bags and asks that you take your rubbish home with you.

  Victoria’s Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit returns to the world superbike calendar in 2022, with Australia to host the season finale of the 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship from 18 – 20 November.

  It is expected that the Phillip Island round of the World Superbike Championship will return to its traditional timeslot as the season opener in 2023.

  2023 offers some opportunities for those who want to get rid of their inheritance including the provisional Isle of Man dates 29/5 - 10/6 2023.

  BMW celebrates 100 years of motorcycle production and BMW Motorrad Days will be held in Berlin 30/6 - ~7/7 2023 (provisional).  For the 2022 Motorrad Days info click here.

  These two events will be linked with motorcycle hire and my plan to take in some regional sites and motorcycle related activities.  Rental of a BMW R1250GS (with panniers) is €130 or A$200/day at March 2022.  The 1 month rental is equivalent to the cost of shipping your bike Aus-Britain 6 weeks each way.  Riding for the 4 weeks in Europe you were paying for anyway.

  Accomodation would be 3 star on a shared / twin / double, with single rooms more, outside the major cities to manage costs adding another $200-$250 a day for food, fuel and accomodation.  Disclaimer:  I've not holidayed in Europe!

  The K series is an important milestone in BMW Motorrad’s history.

  The K series changed the direction of BMW Motorrad and created a broader product range through cutting edge technology, powerful engines and modern styling.

  At the time, product development away from boxer engines was a controversial move for BMW Motorrad.

  The liquid cooled, inline engines (with three or four cylinders) were mounted longways and were visually integral to the K series’ success.
